Art for mental health

In 2022 I was hit by a sudden loss of sight in my left eye after suffering optic nerve damage. After over 30 years as an artist, illustrator and art educator the inability to carry out some everyday tasks let alone carry on as an art educator became extremely difficult. As I came to terms with my new life whilst undergoing therapy turned to my art as vent to release my frustrations.

Here is a piece I created at that time. It served two purposed firstly it was a very cathartic process and secondly it showed me that despite my on going struggles eye problems which were now effecting my right eye, and secondly it gave me the boost to say there is a way forward with my artistic endeavours.

I now use my work as a way to show my emotions.
