Introduction
Welcome to my website! Here you will find a collection of my artwork encompassing many different mediums and approaches. There are abstract oil painting which are a combination of layers of marks, gestures and textures. There are Indian ink drawing, created with spontaneously gesturally applied stains and marks delivered with a sense of urgency, the ultimate aim to provoke a sense of emotion, atmosphere andplace in a moment of time.

The Early Days
I began my creative career as a Graphic Design and illustrator in the mid 1980's. In a career that spanned 36 years both employed as well as freelance, and one that saw me rise to creative lead managing a large team of designers and illustrators, giving me the opportunity to get involved in some amazing projects. Redundancy forced me to re evaluate my career and led me down the path of art educator on two occasions firstly when I ran my own art school teaching people in the local community to paint and draw and lately when I became part of the education team helping rehabilitating inmates in prison as an art tutor.
I loved this work and felt I was giving something back after years of being in the commercial world. Unfortunately it was cut short when I lost the sight in my left eye and struggled with problem in my right eye.
A Passion for Art
My journey as an artist is continually evolving and I am constantly looking to challenge my own perceptions to my own art practice.
After over 30 years of creating traditional figurative works I have had to change the way I approach my art practice following the loss of sight in my left eye and deterioration in my right eye. I am now entering a new era of working practices heavily based on my emotional responses to natural world.
As an artist I take inspiration from the natural world around me. My work depicts the power and forces inflicted on the environment, its unpredictability and the way they are affected by what coexists around them.
I like to use oil in my work when capturing the raw power of nature, applying it broadly and and spontaneously attempting to replicate the energy and emotions I feel at any moment in time. I love the unpredictability of mark making techniques and the journey they can take you on as you build up the layers and marks of a piece.

Artistic Milestones
Throughout my artistic journey, I have achieved numerous milestones that have shaped my career. From being the first 1st year fine art student to be selected to exhibit in the prestigious Cedrick Ford prize at Nottingham University whilst study for my BA in Fine Art to receiving art commissions and selling work around the globe. My first cohort of learner at my art school and those attending classes in the prison classroom. The first commercially produced product I created manufactured for the craft industry, each milestone has been a stepping stone towards his evolution as an artist.

Today
Today I still have deep passion for art and being creative, I am unable to continue on the path as an art educator or professional artist, now just doing it for pleasure, but I have just had to find a way of working. I am still exploring the core subject matter I always have but using abstract and experimental techniques to evoke an emotional response. I am also interested in my art as a mechanism for therapy for the state of my mental health.

Beyond
As I looks to the future, I remain committed to pushing the boundaries of my creativity and leaving my mark on the world of art. My vision is to continue creating original and inspiring artwork that resonates with people from all walks of life whilst continuing to be thankful for the sight I have at present and continually adapt my work as my sight deteriorates.
