Gallery of my Poetry
Before I start a piece of work I like sit and absorb my surroundings and sometimes to seek inspiration I write a poem. Here are a few examples.
Breath
Life is awakened with a start,
sustained by precious nourishment,
all around us, this ephemeral life support
Involuntary action creates reaction,
breath connects with gesture a on a surface,
an array of marks reflect fragility and strength alike
laid down for all to see.
Automatic and unconscious
Ever present life force,
Revealed with conscious intent,
Spontaneous marks describe an existence.
Tactile is the rhythm ofl ife,
records a trace.
Artist Muse
Life is drawn by seas hypnotic pull,
nature's circadia sculptor reveals
artist inspiration abound.
Rocks and boulders strewn across silica beds,
present as a muse to an artist's eye,
this quotidian idol laid bare for interpretation.
A moment is captured just in time,
as nature advances to wipe the slate clean,
vista reborn for ano ther day.
The shipping forecast
Rain lashes rolling waves,
Black clouds engulf the remaining days light,
Northerly winds skim ocean swell.
Gentle wind over southern seas,
Hight pressure becalms winds to doldrums,
Shipping glides through millpond seas.
Rain cuts through morning dawn,
Light reflects on German Bight,
Gentle beginnings to a day at sea.
Strong winds whip Viking rage,
Surging seas disrupt the days calm demeanour,
Lightning erupts to punctuate a storm.
Towards an ominous looking cloud,
Weather unsure of its days path,
Portland poised at d
ays first light.
